In Memoriam Derek Pedder 1933 - 2004

Derek Pedder died suddenly and without pain on Monday 6th December.

A man of many parts, he was known to us in ESTA as national Membership Secretary, as dear husband of British Branch Administrator Marion Seymour, and as Treasurer of the Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund.

An indefatigably keen amateur chamber musician himself, the Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund, which supports the learning of string chamber music playing, was very dear to his heart. For more information about the fund, including contact information if you wish to contribute to its work, see the Special Funds section of the British ESTA website.

As a reminder of Derek, and to promote the Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund, please freely download from here (and feel free to play and distribute unaltered) the four playing parts of a string quartet arrangement, specially made by Bob Thomas, of George Butterworth's song The Cherry Tree. Alternatively, sets of score and parts can be purchased through British ESTA for a donation to the Joan Dickson Chamber Music Fund.

Download The Cherry Tree as a .pdf file (468Kb - requires Acrobat 4 or later)
